Preview: Allegiance

In the year 2140, an asteroid plunges into Earth, almost completely destroying the Human race. Those who survive split into several warring factions and are now battling for dominance of the universe and control of its remaining resources: food, water, fuel, and the Alephs- wormholes that allow transportation to the outer galaxies. Allegiance is Microsoft's latest entry in the massive multiplayer arena- a space combat game, in which players can fly a variety of ships, from fighters to battle cruisers, and choose a role, such as pilot or turret gunner. A variety of game options will be available, including deathmatch and capture the flag, and gamers will be able to play for free on the MSN Gaming Zone. Or, for $9.95 per month, players can choose to join the dedicated Allegiance Zone, where they will gain access to new civilizations and exclusive events. Join the dogfight when Allegiance hits stores this April.
