The Boostaroo from Bowman won't win prizes for its moniker, but earns kudos for ingenuity. This device amplifies any audio source and then splits the signal into three separate channels.
The audio boost from this unit--about a third the size of a Walkman--was noticeable, but not incredibly impressive. (After all, how many times have you really wished that your portable audio device really went up to 11?) 
The device plugs into a standard headphone jack, but what we really liked was the three output channels. Sharing headphones can be a serious pain, and the Boostaroo provides the same strong signal for all three outputs, whether you're listening to music or playing a multiplayer GameBoy game.
We would have liked to see a way to attach the Boostaroo to a portable player. But, all in all, very nice.-- Joel Strauch / GamePro
