Can you hear it? A storm approaches from the South-South-Westviolent and cataclysmic and grand, come to give the fourth installment of 3DOs rich, fun turn-based strategy series a mighty kick in the magical buttocks. Well, sort of. While HOMM IV will keep the series elaborate fantasy board game foundation, everybody knows that theres always room for improvement.
The most obvious enhancement in the HOMMIV preview build was the graphics. Gone were the cartoony hordes and awkward sideways battles from previous gamesHOMM IV features much more detailed, realistic characters and landscapes, and combat takes place in a much more eye-pleasing 3D isometric view. And, for the first time in the series history, your Heroes actively participated in combat alongside his specialized armies of bone dragons, hydras, and angel warriors.
HOMM IV will feature 60 creature types, six different city styles, 24 individual scenarios (including a map and scenario editor to make your own), five schools of Magic, and 48 different kinds of Heroes to lead your armies into battle.
