Review: Intensor LX 350

My first test-run with the newly-redesigned Intensor LX 350 was very loud, very vibrant, and best of all, very distracting to all those in earshot of this beast.

Imeron Immersive Technologies (formerly known as BSG) is at it again. This time their mission was to improve the Intensor chair, and I think they've produced a much better product as a result.

We've all heard the complaints about the first chair: The sound quality could've been better. The bass could've been deeper. The seat could've been more comfortable.

Unfortunately, the Intensor LX 350 is still very uncomfortable.

But Imeron has addressed two out three complaints. The sound quality is better, the bass is deeper, and even the design is improved. Control buttons (volume dial and rumble dial) were oddly placed front and center on the first chair. Users had to fumble between their legs to reach the dials.

The new dials are located on the side of the chair, and they're easily accessible.

The tactile feedback seems a little more responsive this time around, and it's less annoying, too. This thing never gets out of control like its predecessor once did during one of my Quake matches. The force is actually impressive--photon torpedos wrecking the sides of my Klingon destroyer in Starfleet Command actually ramped up the intensity rather than being distracting. Subtlety, in the end, paid off for the LX 350.

The only caveats about this product are: Do you really need a rumbling, pulsating speaker for a chair, and do you really want to pay $200 for it? I'm not sure I'd pay that much money for the LX 350even if they made it more comfortable.-- Nash Werner / GamePro
