Motorhead
Reviews / previews
Almost nothing about Fox Interactive's Motorhead
lives up to the familiar and inspiring trumpets that
ring it in.
It's nothing more
than a flat,
conventional
quasi-sci-fi racing
game. There's a
handful of
good-looking,
nicely rendered
cars to race on
eight adequate tracks, which feature some
interesting dead ends and false roads. But that's it.
The graphics are fast but somewhat minimal, with an
often-conspicuous fogging effect. The physics model
is based on only one rule: Don't hit walls. Unless
you want to slow down, in which case it's often more
practical to approach a 90-degree bend at 150mph
and slam into the wall as a method of braking.
Damage model?
No such thing here.
Don't worry,
though--this won't
hurt a bit.
The most
interesting thing
about Motorhead is
that it seems the
game is off-limits to
the unemployed:
When you first load
the game, you're
required to enter a
company name in the appropriate blank. While I
commend Fox Interactive for its efforts to keep the
unemployment rate down, someone should let them
know that it's going to take a game better than
Motorhead to compel people to join the workforce.-- Tom Chick / GamePro
