Operation Flashpoint Gold Edition by Codemasters for PC is an FPS for new recruits to the Flashpoint cause. Gold Edition contains V1.3, and comes with all the additional vehicles, weapons, and missions made available since the game's launch, along with enhanced multiplayer functionality and many additional code updates. Perhaps best described as a broad simulation of a fictional war between the United States and the Soviet Union, Operation Flashpoint will enable you to carry a rifle in the infantry, don a ski mask in a spec ops unit, fly helicopters, and drive tanks, trucks, jeeps, and more. Gameplay in the preview version was an intense mix of first-person shooter, tank and helicopter simulator, and squad-based strategy, with events happening outside of your control on the virtual battlefield. Though the controls were clunky and the graphics merely functional, serious war gamers will want to target this title.
