Project Eden
Project Eden by Eidos for PC is an action-adventure game that with interchangeable first- and third-person viewpoints. You control a team of four characters, and gameplay relies heavily on character interaction in either single-player (co-operative) or four-player (network). Command may also be switched from characters to remotely operated equipment. The first-person viewpoint allows the character to see torso and feet and the realtime shadow. Gameplay is structured via a commanding script that leads the player through a world distorted by its own evolution, where the inhabitants reflect an unnatural and often sinister vigilance. -- GamePro

The creators of Tomb Raider are getting ready to unleash Project Eden, a squad-based sci-fi action/adventure game that is looking to combine an engrossing story with intense gameplay. In the distant future, Earth's overcrowding forces the construction of giant mega-cities inhabited by millions of humans and overrun with crime. From a first or third person perspective, you'll take control of four members of the Urban Protection Agency as they investigate a series of strange disappearances that lead to an even bigger mystery. A cooperative mode will allow you to team up with up to three friends over the Internet and battle through the game's eleven missions. Look for Project Eden to infiltrate stores in early 2001.

A combination first- and third-person strategy/adventure game, Project Eden unfolds in a dystopian future where massive skyscrapers house the inhabitants of an overpopulated Earth. The afluent live on the highest floors, so they can snag some sunlight, while the impoverished "Underlife" abound in the dismal lower levels. The disappearance of an engineering team sent to refortify the base of a building sets the game in motion. Project Eden will let players control a four-person security squad that's charged with investigating the mystery. Judging from the screens, the environments are already impressive. Eden will feature inhabitants that include a gang of blind humans, who wear laser-guided headsets, and genetically engineered creatures, who morph from one grotesque appearance to another. The game also promises a unique approach to the death-and-reload problem: Instead of dying, each character's shield will have a minimum shutdown level that, when reached, forms an impenetrable field around them. They can't be harmed, but they also can't do anything until someone gives them some juice. You'll also be able to use this shared energy to create bigger guns or flying probes to scout out potential ambushes. Eden flourishes next year.-- Ash / GamePro
