Quake Live

Quake Live is a free game supported by advertisement that looks very much like Quake 3 Arena, but is played entirely via web browser. The special browser plug-in is intended to be run on a wide variety of platforms, and most computers can maintain graphical fidelity at over a hundred frames per second. The maps, game modes and weapons are all drawn from Q3 and Q3: Team Arena. In addition, some additional maps have been altered or rebuilt for Quake Live. Gameplay is online-only, and game modes include classics like Duel, Team Deathmatch and Instagib. Gamers will have their stats tracked whenever they choose to play on a ranked server, and a built-in social networking system allows friends and enemies to compare stats and compete for the most impresssive record. -- GamePro
